Dr Amponsah-Kodua, born 22nd December 1958 was a pharmacist and a visionary. He had over 35 years of experience in drug production. He started his drug formulations in Germany and later relocated to Ghana to begin his own company. He started Aspee Pharmaceuticals Limited in his home in 2002. He mainly produced oral liquids covering hematinics and analgesics.

The company moved to its current facility, in 2010, where production expanded to cover oral solids and oral liquids.

Dr Amponsah -Kodua led with a firm but gentle hand, always pushing his staff to be self sufficient and independent. That was his leadership skill and he executed it perfectly.

He had wide entrepreneurial knowledge and a passion for excellence especially relating to students, hence he established MOU’s with various universities offering Aspee Pharmaceuticals Limited as a training and research hub for students.

After his unexpected demise in 2022, Aspee Pharmaceuticals Limited continues to thrive under the leadership of his daughter Pharm Dr Angela Amponsah- Kodua and wife Mrs Mary Amponsah-Kodua.
